How Do You Change Your Belly Bar?

The moment you realize that your belly button piercing is completely healed, it’s likely that you’re excited to experiment with various belly bars. But your first hurdle is how to change the belly bar for the first time. Be careful when the piercing is still fresh, and follow the recommended steps on how to change belly bar.

Firstly, you have to wash your hands with warm water and antibacterial soap. Do this before you touch your piercing. Make it a habit to sterilize new jewelry before you put it in any part of your body. All you have to do is place this in a cup of boiling-hot distilled water. Leave it in the water for at least 30 minutes. Dry the piece using a paper towel instead of a used hand towel.

To clean belly button piercing, a saline solution must be used. To make this, just stir a half teaspoon of sea salt into a glass of lukewarm water. There are two ways to clean the piercing with saline solution, through the suction method and by using a cotton pad.

Make a suction seal between your skin and the cup’s rim. Let the solution drench your skin by leaning back. Stay in that position for 10 minutes for the solution to sterilize the area. Dry the area with a paper towel after.

You may soak a cotton pad in the salt solution. Using this wipe the piercing and the jewelry. Be gentle when you wipe the piercing since it may still be tender even when it is already healed. Dry the piercing using a paper towel.

Remember that it usually takes three months to about a year before you can change into a new belly button bar. A good sign that it is healed completely is when you can easily move it without any pain. The surrounding skin must also look like the way it did before you had the piercing. Be wary if there is swelling or discharge.
